With Arms Wide Open

Between the layers

The most tragic of events
   brings a whole garden variety
   of reactions.
She tries to hide behind
   a wall of comfort
Her eyes betray her.
She hardly understands
   what has even happened
     or why.

Seeking Understanding

O Great Spirit, whose
   knowledge we seek
bring us closer to greater
   understanding of how
   life is supposed to be.
We often fail to see the beauty
   you provide for us,
   to make room for
   'better things'
when in fact we should be focusing on
   our poor Mother Earth.
Help us to remember that we
   should be doing - guiding us
   as always on our sacred journey.
